Autonomy, Productivity and Neurodiversity in Academia

On Wednesday the 11th of February 2026, we organized together with dr. Marlijn Huitink, a psychologist specialized in autism, a workshop about neurodiversity and how it relates to autonomy and productivity for PhD candidates and PostDocs at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam). Every brain processes information differently which leads to individual behavior and capacity to process stimuli. During a three-hour interactive session, Marlijn introduced facts and fables regarding neurodiversity, and she provided exercises about autonomy, how people process stimuli (differently), and recognize (what to do) when you are overstimulated. We would like to thank all the participants and the trainer for joining us and shaping a very interesting and practical session.
